“I suffer from severe Claustrophobia. I went to Disneyland for the very first time in my life with my boyfriend who was celebrating his birthday. We got in line for a ride called "Pirates of the Caribbean." I had no idea what the ride was about or what I was about to see and experience. I simply "went along for the ride." I sat down on a small boat with about ten other passengers. At the gate, it was all very dimly lit except for some low flickering lights that resembled candles. Anyway, I panicked impatiently, and started to hyperventilate. I didn't know what to do. The boat continued to move slowly toward a tunnel of total darkness. I opened my purse and dug around for anything. I reached for my cell phone. Why? I don't know. Perhaps for the small light that it gives off when you push the buttons. Then I remembered that I had Serene somewhere in there. I opened it and desperately used it. I rubbed my nose with it. I took deep breaths of it right out of the bottle. I continued to hold it in my hand and rub some of the oil around my nose. All the while holding the lid open and breathing it in. I sat frozen holding onto the bottle of Serene while my severe fear and panic dissipated. Let's just say I couldn't wait to get out of those dark caves and tunnels of magnificently reconstructed Pirate scenes, but at least while I was stuck on that boat, it was as if something just instantly calmed me down.
